Mhealth is the medical and public health practice supported by mobile devices such as mobile phones, patient monitoring devices, personal digital assistants and other wireless devices. Mhealth increases access to health information, services and skills as well as promotes positive changes in health behavior to prevent the onset of acute and chronic diseases. Mhealth capitalizes on the use of a mobile phone’s voice and short messaging service (SMS) as well as more complex functionalities and applications including general packet radio service (GPRS), third and fourth generation mobile telecommunications (4G and 5G systems), global positioning system (GPS), and Bluetooth technology.
