The actuarial evaluation is the bedrock on which a sustainable social security system is built. The demographic ageing of the population is a critical issue that is ever present in the activities of the Technical Commission on Statistical, Actuarial and Financial Studies. The complexity of the issues is compounded by emerging issues related to the financing of long-term care services.
The Technical Commission on Statistical, Actuarial and Financial Studies has an enviable track record of substantial contribution to the ISSA, including through the International Conference of Social Security Actuaries, Statisticians and Investment Specialists (ACT), technical seminars and other events with a view of increasing the actuarial capacity in all social security institutions. It has also developed, jointly with the International Labour Organization (ILO), a set of ISSA Guidelines on Actuarial Work.
