The virtual symposium is organized in collaboration with the ISSA Technical Commission on Organization, Management and Innovation and in cooperation with the the Social Security Administering Body for the Health Sector (BPJS Kesehatan) of Indonesia.
In the run up to the first International Conference on Management of Social Security (LEAD 2021), the ISSA Virtual Symposium on Leadership in Social Security will be held on Thursday, 28 January 2021 from 09:00 to 12:00 (UTC/GMT+1 or CET).
The symposium will cover two topics. The first topic, Leadership in the human-and-digital age, will highlight the fundamental and pervasive change that is taking place across all social security institutions, from the top leadership through to the most junior staff. Administrators are quickly realizing that ideation, creation and innovation are better achieved by blending staff skills and capacities with digital technologies. The traditional view that staff are simply parts of assembly line processes to deliver benefits and services is rapidly giving way to a new mind-set that recognizes the primary contribution of staff to the institution’s agility and resilience. Leaders of social security institutions are at the forefront of initiatives to transform their organizations into a human-and-digital workplace to ensure the continued delivery of excellent service into the future.
The second topic, Behavioural insights and social security, will explore how social security institutions are using insights from psychology, consumer choice and social sciences to improve social security outcomes. Behavioural insights are showing that individual decision-making are strongly influenced by context and human preferences for what are easy, simple and attractive to do. Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and Big Data are enabling the analyses of information and prediction of people’s needs and responses. Insights on human behaviour supported by data-driven social security are revealing new ways to improve outcomes in the extension of coverage, contribution compliance, benefits administration and the level of public trust in social security.
