In March 2020, the coronavirus pandemic broke out in Israel.

What began as a health crisis soon turned into an economic crisis, which led many workers to go on forced unpaid leave and went to the National Insurance Institute (NII) for assistance. There was a need to find creative solutions within the limits of the law and the data available to the NII, and to find workable and quick solutions that would allow the payment of unemployment benefits to unpaid workers.

The occurrence of skin cancer is generally associated with leisure activities. It is overlooked, however, that outdoor workers are much more at risk due to increased exposure as a result of their work. The results of the NLST (National Lung Screening Trial) study showed that the use of Low Dose Spiral Computer Tomography with persons with a significantly increased risk of lung cancer can reduce the mortality risk by identifying lung cancer at an earlier stage than the use of conventional X-rays. At the end of 2011 the SUVA decided to offer this possibility on a voluntary basis to those of its insured members who had been exposed to asbestos and had a similar risk of developing lung cancer. The programme started in 2012.

The core element of the new concept is the prompt and comprehensive care of accident victims in complex cases. In the case of specific disabilities and in particular, subjective circumstances, Suva initiates the proactive care of accident victims immediately after the event. In addition to medical requirements, this intensive support is also intended to protect the insuree's job, and to extend to the coordination of claims against other insurance companies. Within the legal limits imposed upon its services, Suva wishes to ensure that even difficult cases do not become a problem.
