In March 2020, the coronavirus pandemic broke out in Israel.

What began as a health crisis soon turned into an economic crisis, which led many workers to go on forced unpaid leave and went to the National Insurance Institute (NII) for assistance. There was a need to find creative solutions within the limits of the law and the data available to the NII, and to find workable and quick solutions that would allow the payment of unemployment benefits to unpaid workers.

The main objectives of the NBP were to ensure that the Trust can issue to contributors statements of account that are complete and accurate and that reflect both the earnings record and the actual contributions paid.

The application of ICT as a strategic tool has come with its own challenges. These include the following:

- challenge 1: Management and Troubleshooting of user ICT related problems;
- challenge 2: Provision of Continuous ICT training to users;
- challenge 3: Uncoordinated or chaotic upgrade and update of ICT infrastructure.

Even though the Trust manages a public social insurance programme which is mandatory, the institution believes that members and beneficiaries deserve better treatment when we transact business with them. This has been our motivation to provide quality customer service.

The Institution has essentially re-oriented the employees and provides the needed environment to enhance quality customer service delivery.
