The economic, social and health emergency caused by the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in compulsory isolation as a preventive measure to stop the disease spreading among the population, with special emphasis on protecting older adults as the most vulnerable group.
As pensions administrator for about 1.4 million people, the Colombian Pension Administrator (Administradora Colombiana de Pensiones (Colpensiones)) faced the challenge and the responsibility of creating mechanisms to facilitate the timely payment of pensions every month, based on technological methods not requiring attendance by citizens with no links to the banking system.
