The development of the Electronic Premium Remittance System (EPRS) of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) heralded its first steps towards digitalization. The EPRS proved to be an invaluable tool to both PhilHealth and its stakeholders particularly to employers and its direct contributors as evident in its success indicators.
Serving as one of the foundations of PhilHealth’s core systems, the EPRS has been used, maintained and improved over a decade to serve the general public. The deployment of the EPRS also encouraged the development of its other manual transactions into information systems driven by well-written policies. Embracing the importance of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as an integral part of its operations, PhilHealth adheres to the good practices while scrutinizing risks in the implementation of its core policies and the digitalization of its core systems in its desire to fulfil its mandate under the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law.
