The International Section of the ISSA on Prevention in Transportation is contributing to the A+A Congress on occupational safety and health in Düsseldorf, Germany (26–29 October 2021). During the three hour Symposium "Vision Zero when working with goods vehicles" (27 October 10:00–13:00 CEST), the Section will share insights and ideas on how to reduce health and safety risks in and around goods transportation vehicles. A number of members and longtime cooperation partners are contributing to the programme.
A world without occupational accidents and work-related diseases - that is what Vision Zero is all about. What solutions help to reach this goal in road haulage? A series of practical examples will present approaches to known problems, such as falling off the vehicle, and show how new solutions help drivers reduce risks when turning and reversing. In line with the holistic approach of Vision Zero, the focus is not only on driving activities, but also on aspects such as the design of work procedures, the procurement of commercial vehicles and a culture of prevention.
In one of the most accident-prone sectors of the economy, there is still much that can be done to move closer to Vision Zero - a world without occupational accidents. With this Symposium, the Section on Transportation is building a bridge between every day, practical challenges and the ideals of Vision Zero.
