The Regional Social Security Forum for Africa (RSSF Africa) is the biggest and most important social security event in the region. The Forum will take place in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, 17–19 May 2023, at the invitation of the IPS National Social Insurance Fund (IPS Caisse nationale de prévoyance sociale – IPS CNPS), in collaboration with the Social Insurance Institute - State Employees’ General Retirement Fund (Institut de prévoyance sociale - Caisse générale de retraite des agents de l’État − IPS CGRAE) and under the auspices of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Côte d’Ivoire.

Organized by the International Social Security Association (ISSA), RSSF Africa will bring together around 400 participants and represent a landmark opportunity for peer-to-peer sharing, learning and networking, enabling participants to forge links with other leaders and professionals in social security.

For leaders and decision-makers

RSSF Africa is aimed at leaders and senior managers of ISSA member institutions in the region. Invitations will also be extended to several ministers, policymakers, experts and representatives of international and regional organizations such as the International Labour Organization and the African Union.

Key social security themes

The Forum will address a range of topical priority issues for the region. The extension of coverage, the evolving protection needs of populations and the leadership role of social security institutions for the development of social security systems in a context of complex labour market, economic and demographic developments will be some of the important aspects discussed. The Forum will also focus on how management and service delivery are transforming, and how social security can contribute to resilience and sustainability.

ISSA Good Practice Award

RSSF Africa will showcase innovative work and good practices from Africa’s social security institutions, and present the prestigious ISSA Good Practice Award for Africa. www.issa.int/gpa

Share your stories

Both before and during the Forum, ISSA members and partners in Africa are invited to share, via social media, stories of their work and the important role social security plays in building inclusive and resilient societies: #ISSARSSFafrica

Languages

The Forum’s working languages will be English and French. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in those languages, as well as Arabic and Portuguese.

Practical

RSSF Africa is open to delegates of ISSA member organizations and invited institutions. There is no registration fee for ISSA members. Participants are responsible for their travel and accommodation costs. Representatives of non-member institutions are requested to contact the ISSA General Secretariat for the terms and conditions of participation.
