The International Social Security Association (ISSA) has launched the call for participation in the ISSA Good Practice Award for the Americas 2020. This is a unique opportunity for social security institutions in the region to receive recognition for their innovations and achievements. In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and to accommodate the request of members in the region, the ISSA is extending the deadline to 24 July 2020, to give members additional time to work on their entries.
The ISSA Good Practice Award competition is organized in connection with the upcoming Regional Social Forum for the Americas that will take place in San José, Costa Rica, from 2 to 4 December 2020, at the invitation of the Social Insurance Fund of Costa Rica (Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social – CCSS).
Presenting the winner of the ISSA Good Practice Award for the Americas 2020 will be one of the highlights of the Forum. The competition is an opportunity to showcase a broad base of institutional good practices, contributing to developing, delivering and promoting social security in the region. In recent months, the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis has been a top priority for social security institutions around the world, and the competition is also an opportunity to highlight effective institutional responses to this crisis in the Americas. Collected good practices will also help shape the programme of the Forum and be an opportunity for institutions to showcase their achievements.
Beyond the Regional Forum, the good practices remain published in the ISSA Database of Good Practices, which is a world reference in social security administration. Among its many uses, the good practices support and illustrate the application of ISSA Guidelines, inspire the development of new guidelines, and serve as important content for other events and knowledge-based products of the ISSA Centre for Excellence.
Since the Awards were launched in 2008, more than 800 good practices have been collected, providing a rich source of knowledge on the experiences of ISSA member institutions in social security management and innovation.
