Guideline 12. Promoting a healthy and safe work environment

The institution ensures an inclusive, safe and sustainable work environment that supports the physical and mental well-being and healthy work-life balance of both on-site and off-site workers as well as their freedom from any form of violence or harassment. HR policies are compliant with the decent work conditions of the International Labour Organization. Digital technologies can track the institution’s carbon footprint, including the use of apps to nudge behaviour towards a green and sustainable work environment in the institution.

The ISSA Guidelines on Workplace Health Promotion and the ISSA Guidelines on Prevention of Occupational Risks provide further guidance on this. The ISSA Vision Zero Strategy for safety, health and well-being promotes a prevention culture at the workplace.
