Superintendency of Occupational Risks

Prevention 4.0

Implementation year

Argentina’s Superintendency of Occupational Risks (Superintendencia de Riesgos del Trabajo – SRT) has a project named Prevention 4.0, which consists of analysing and studying technological tools that can be implemented in the workplace to prevent work accidents or occupational diseases.

The concept of Industry 4.0 refers to a new production mode that makes use of solutions based on interconnectivity, automation and real-time data. It involves gradually incorporating different technological components, such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, nanotechnology, robotics and biotechnology, among others.

As far as the SRT is concerned, the promotion of new, more effective contingency prevention tools is a core goal. Accordingly, it formed an ad hoc team composed of SRT prevention experts and new technology specialists. They analysed state-of-the-art technological solutions, examined the related technical and legal issues and came up with some thirty concrete initiatives which could be developed and applied in the future.
