Provisional assessment for social security benefit during COVID-19 pandemic lockdown

Implementation year
2020

The Medical Board of the Social Security Organization (SOCSO) is a group of medical professionals that is responsible for performing impairment evaluation and determining the social security benefits due to employment injury or invalidity filed by Malaysian employees (insured persons) with SOCSO.

During the national COVID-19 lockdown, SOCSO had to postpone all Medical Board sessions nationwide. This led to a backlog of cases and a delay in issuing benefits to eligible insured persons. To overcome this, SOCSO began the initiative to provide provisional impairment assessment for eligible claims of such group. This is to ensure that there is continuity of service and more importantly, insured persons will be able to get the necessary assistance and benefits even during the COVID-19 lockdown.
