Accelerating the transformative digitalization

Implementation year

The year 2020 posed unprecedented challenges to organizations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, but it offered the Philippines Social Security System (SSS) opportunities to execute new measures to fulfil its mandate and address the needs of its members during the difficult period.

One of the measures implemented was the acceleration of the transformative digitalization initiatives. Digitalization aims to develop the SSS business processes and procedures to be more responsive, efficient and effective, including the availability of additional service delivery channels in all various mobile and online platforms.

The focus of the digitalization initiative the previous year was the online submission of various benefit claims, payment of contributions, and availment of loan programmes.
