Catholic Workers' Circle of the Uruguay Mutual Fund

Implementation of institutional policy in the COVID-19 pandemic, applied to the employees of a health insurance mutual fund in Uruguay

Implementation year

In accordance with the health emergency decreed by the government and with state policies, our mutual fund, the Catholic Workers’ Circle of the Uruguay Mutual Fund (Círculo Católico de Obreros del Uruguay Mutualista), has since mid-March, been implementing a strategic plan to combat and control the COVID-19 pandemic.

Certain actions have been carried out to minimise the risk to the institution’s workers.

The Human Management and Labour Relations Department (Departamento de Gestión Humana y Relaciones Laborales) carried out measures affecting workers with risk factors defined by the Public Health Ministry (Ministerio de Salud Pública – MSP) as the most vulnerable groups, and those who had been in contact with people confirmed as COVID-19-positive or who had been in a risk area.

Various innovative strategies and actions were implemented concerning forms of working to reduce the possibilities of infection.

Compliance with the plan was monitored and deviations from it detected and corrected, allowing the institution to continue providing services to users while taking care of workers’ health.
