Natural disasters can occur anywhere and at any time, often with little or no warning. Due to climate change, events such as wildfires, floods and earthquakes are becoming increasingly frequent, even in regions that were previously rarely affected.

Natural disasters not only disrupt business operations, but also pose significant risks to the safety of employees. Workers and first responders face both physical threats and psychological stress that should not be underestimated either. The consequences of a natural disaster can often extend beyond the immediate event, having a long-term impact on the health and well-being of workers and first responders.

It is increasingly important for workplaces to integrate natural disaster preparedness and response into occupational safety and health (OSH) protocols. Developing suitable emergency plans and providing regular training are essential to prepare workers for potential scenarios.

Register for this seventh webinar in the “Let's talk about OSH” series, organized by the ISSA Special Commission on Prevention, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of natural disaster preparedness and response in occupational safety and health.
