Environmental sustainability is an important consideration in a rapidly changing health care context. Health care practitioners and health insurance institutions serve to protect and improve public health. However, they can do more to reduce negative environmental effects impacting human well-being. The health care sector contributes to considerable waste production. Therefore, health care management and staff have an active role to play in promoting and ensuring patient safety, while practicing environmental stewardship.

To address these issues, institutions should consider the following:

  • the impact of health care provision on the environment (waste production, energy consumption);
  • how health care providers and health insurance institutions consider the environmental aspect in prevention, information, awareness-raising, and the exposure of their patients to certain health and climate-change risks.

Join us for this ISSA Webinar that will offer the opportunity to reflect on innovative measures taken to ensure environmental sustainability in the health care sector, including country experiences.
