African Launch of the Vision Zero Campaign
The “Launch of the Vision Zero Campaign in Africa” will be held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 26 to 27 April 2018. The African Launch of the Vision Zero Campaign is organized and hosted by Social Insurance Institute - National Social Insurance Fund (Institution de prévoyance sociale - Caisse nationale de prévoyance sociale – CNPS) and supported by the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and will be held at Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire.
Scope and objectives of the Vision Zero Launch
Vision Zero is a transformational approach to prevention that integrates the three dimensions of safety, health and wellbeing at all levels of work. On 4 September 2017, the ISSA launched the first Global Vision Zero Campaign at the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work. The Campaign aims to motivate and support businesses to develop a workplace prevention culture which is based on the belief that every accident, disease and harm at work is preventable if the three dimensions of safety, health and wellbeing are appropriately integrated all levels of work.
Since then, almost 1,000 organizations, companies and safety and health trainers from all over the world have joined the Campaign and expressed their belief that all accidents, diseases and harm at work are preventable if the right measures are put in place in good time. Thanks to its flexibility, Vision Zero is beneficial to any workplace, enterprise or industry in all regions of the world.
The African Vision Zero launch will present a unique opportunity to bring Vision Zero to Africa and allow participants to meet with government, social security and business representatives to discuss the African challenges in occupational safety and health.
The event is open to ISSA members, government officials, representatives of the private sector and individuals working in occupational safety and health. It will provide a unique occasion for senior representatives and technical specialists of organisations, social security institutions and businesses to engage in an exchange on prevention and on how Vision Zero can contribute to a workplace without accidents, diseases and harm.
