Employment injury benefits: Occupational accident and disease insurance systems
Employment injury benefits: Occupational accident and disease insurance systemsInternational Labour Office, (ILO). ILO. 2010. 22 p.
Occupational accidents and diseases not only harm the victims, but also the families, the enterprises and the communities as a whole. The hidden costs, such as loss of productive time, retraining of staff and loss of sales, can be many times higher than the direct costs. The companies are not reimbursed for such costs by insurance. Therefore, development of a fully-functional employment injury benefit system is vital for both workers and employers.
