COVID-19 and OSH

Due to the worldwide impact of COVID-19 and the postponement of the Congress to September
2021, the International Organizing Committee has decided to host a Special Session on October
5, 2020 focused on COVID-19 and OSH. This free virtual session features thought leaders
discussing emerging innovations in addressing COVID-19 in the workplace, how the future of
work is being shaped by the global pandemic, and the relevance of promoting a culture of
prevention to addressing COVID-19. Topics will also include the International Media Festival for
Prevention, Vision Zero, and strengthening resilience for sustainable workplaces through social
dialogue.
The International Social Security Association (ISSA) is organising the following sessions for its members:
Vision Zero in Motion
Presenting the new Vision Zero Proactive Leading Indicators and the new Vision Zero Training programme

Vision Zero was developed by the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and launched at the last World Congress three years ago, and has found a broad acceptance in the world of occupational health and safety professionals, organisations and companies. What started as a campaign has gradually become a strategy to improve prevention performance at all levels. Following the demands of the OSH community, we have been working with the businesses, social security institutions, researchers and professional training providers to take Vision Zero to the next level.
In this session the ISSA will present to you
- The new Vision Zero Training Programme – a newly developed Vision Zero training course for companies, to be delivered by accredited Vision Zero trainers.
- The new Vision Zero Proactive Leading Indicators – a guide to measure and manage safety, health and wellbeing.
- Exciting experiences and Vision Zero success stories from the OSH community
Global Forum for Work Injury Insurance
When: Tuesday, 6 October 2020, 12:00 to 14:00 UTC (8:00 am – 10:00 am EST, 14:00 – 16:00 CEST).

The Global Forum gathers leading experts and researchers from social security institutions to discuss prevention related questions for workers compensation boards and occupational accident insurance schemes. The Forum focusses on various topics dedicated to prevention, communication, innovation, sustainability and resilience. This year, the Forum will address responses to pandemics outbreaks and extreme events such as the COVID-19. It will be hosted by the Social Insurance Fund of the Russian Federation with honourable support of the XXII World Congress on Safety and Health Organizers, the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and its ISSA Technical Commission on Insurance against Employment Accidents and Occupational Diseases. We are also pleased to welcome the regional organizations, bringing together social security institutions that are providing insurance against accidents at work and occupational diseases.
International Media Festival for Prevention Live Session

Since 1990, the International Sections of the ISSA for Electricity and on Information for Prevention have been organizing the International Media Festival for Prevention (IMFP) in the framework of the World Congress for Safety and Health at Work, which is taking place every three years.
Despite the postponement of this year’s World Congress for Safety and Health at Work to 19–22 September 2021 in Toronto, Canada, the media festival remains an important part of the main international prevention event worldwide.
