This ISSA Technical Seminar, focusing on the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in social security, will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 4 to 7 November 2024. It will be hosted by Dataprev – Social Security Information and Technology Enterprise (Dataprev – Empresa de Tecnologia e Informações da Previdência Social) on the occasion of its 50th anniversary.

This dynamic event will address key areas of Artificial Intelligence (AI) application in social security institutions. It will include data preparation, implementing business applications and strategic planning to adopt AI as part of the institutional technology portfolio. Through engaging discussions, expert insights and hands-on activities, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to put AI technologies into practice. They can revolutionize social security systems, optimise processes and provide insights that allow institutions to become more efficient.

The technical seminar will include workshop sessions with in-depth discussions on the role of data preparation in AI. It will highlight best practices to ensure the required data quality and integrity for social security AI applications. Attendees will discover how AI-driven solutions can streamline administrative tasks, improve operational efficiency and enhance service delivery in social security programmes. In addition, the event will explore innovative approaches to leveraging AI for pattern detection and prospective insight, equipping participants with the tools and knowledge needed to become more effective in core activities such as combatting error, evasion and fraud, and ensuring the integrity of social security systems. Finally, the technology adoption strategies will be addressed, discussing approaches to incorporate AI as part of institutions’ digitalization roadmaps.

The event will also include a demonstration of the capabilities and potential of OpenImis, an open-source information management system tailored for social security institutions.

The technical seminar will have simultaneous interpretation in English, Portuguese and Spanish. It is open to representatives of ISSA member institutions in the Americas and from Portuguese-speaking countries, and other invited participants. There is no registration fee for ISSA members.
