Organized by the Berufsgenossenschaftliches Institut für Arbeitssicherheit (BIA) in co-operation with the ISSA International Section for Research on Prevention of Occupational Risks and the ISSA International Section on Machine and System Safety, this International Conference took place in Bonn from 13 - 15 November 2001.

A total of 250 participants from 16 countries discussed the chances and risks of new technologies, the human factor in the context of automated systems and the main development efforts and trends for the future.
