The first plenary session of the World Social Security Forum will present an overview of significant international developments in social security, as well as allow for a more in-depth discussion and debate on selected topical questions and issues.

The ISSA Secretary General will provide, through a keynote speech, an overview of recent developments and trends in social security throughout the world and draw attention to some pertinent questions and issues based on the findings and analysis contained in the report on Developments and trends: Supporting dynamic social security. The Report, which is specifically prepared for the Forum, will be made available to delegates in advance of the session.

Following the Secretary General's speech, a professional moderator will facilitate the discussion in order to stimulate an open and free-flowing discussion among the panellists and with delegates.
The aim is to encourage an interactive and spontaneous discussion and debate among the diverse range of participants, who include specialists, policymakers and senior officials from social security institutions from all regions of the world.

The session is intended to set the stage for a productive exchange of ideas during the entire week.
