According to the press conference of the Chinese Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MoHRSS) for the first quarter of 2013, participants under the Chinese pension scheme for rural residents and that for the non-employed urban residents totalled 486 million by the end of March 2013 (including 133 million pension recipients), representing an increase of 110 million people compared to the March 2012 figure (376 million participants including 107 million pension recipients).
