"Thank you for the confidence that the ISSA Officers and Bureau members have expressed in electing me as Vice-President of the Association," Mr Al-Humayyd stated following his election. "I hope that I can fulfill your expectations and contribute to the leadership of the Association until the World Social Security Forum in Qatar, and I ask for the support of all ISSA members."
Soliman S. Al-Humayyd is the Governor of the General Organization for Social Insurance (GOSI) of Saudi Arabia, a position he has held since his appointment in 1995. A dynamic ambassador for the ISSA among Arab-speaking social security organizations, Mr Al-Humayyd has significantly contributed to increasing the Association’s membership in his region.
Mr Al-Humayyd played a leading role in supporting the establishment of an ISSA Liaison Office for Arab Countries, based in Jordan, and has chaired the Steering Committee of this Office since 2005. Mr Al-Humayyd’s organization has enabled the regular translation and dissemination of social security information in Arabic, including a number of ISSA publications. He has headed the GOSI delegation to several ISSA regional and international conferences.
Mr Soliman S. Al-Humayyd replaces Ms Merlene Bailey Martinez, who recently left her position as CEO of the Belize Social Security Board.
