The ISSA’s Technical Commissions and Special Commission on Prevention provide networks for specialists to collaborate in advancing discussion on technical social security issues. The Technical Commissions foster research and analysis on specific areas of social security, including pensions, employment policies, family benefits, sickness insurance, invalidity, mutual societies, prevention and investment.
The first Technical Commissions were founded in 1947, with new Technical Commissions added in 1998, Investments of Social Security Funds in 2007, and Policy Analysis and Research in 2010. The Chairpersons of the Technical Commissions are elected by the Bureau on a triennial basis.
The Technical Commissions play a key role in the delivery of the Association’s programme and as such provide a substantial input to achieve the strategic objectives determined in the ISSA’s Programme and Budget:
In the current triennium, the ISSA programme focuses on working with members in four priority areas :
The Technical Commissions and Special Commission on Prevention
The ISSA has eleven Technical Commissions and a Special Commission on Prevention, which cover the various social security branches as well as horizontal topics.
