In 2014, the ISSA's support of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work will highlight the role of social security as part of a holistic strategy, linking the prevention of occupational risks, supporting return to work, and promoting workplace health promotion.
- Extension of coverage
In recent years, administrative innovations that take into account the particular needs of self-employed workers have been particularly effective in increasing social security coverage. In many countries, a large proportion of the working-age population are self-employed workers – in both the formal and informal sectors.
- New publication
The report on the Americas, produced with the US Social Security Administration, provides a cross-national comparison of the social security systems in 36 countries in the region, including summaries of the five main social insurance programmes in those countries.
