In addition, they are increasingly asked to extend large-scale programmes and provide comprehensive coverage to vulnerable population groups, including migrant workers, which require complex administrative tools, according to the Secretary General in his opening remarks at the 13th International Conference on Information and Communication Technology in Social Security, which took place in Brasilia, Brazil from 17 to 20 April. Hosted by the Social Security Information and Technology Enterprise of Brazil, Dataprev, over 300 professionals from more than 70 countries convened to discuss the strategic impact of ICT in the implementation of social security systems.]]>

(08.05.2012) The ISSA Bureau elected a new Vice-President of the Association during its 105th meeting in Geneva on 8 May. Mr Soliman S. Al-Humayyd was proposed as Vice-President by the ISSA President Errol Frank Stoové, and endorsed by the ISSA Bureau members. The election is a recognition of Mr Al-Humayyd’s "significant commitment and contributions to the ISSA over many years", said Mr Stoové, welcoming the newly-elected Vice-President.]]>

In collaboration with the International Labour Organization, the ISSA is once again actively supporting the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April 2012. The World Day for Safety and Health at Work has been observed by the ILO since 2003, and is a significant advocacy tool to raise awareness about how to make work safe and healthy and to raise the political profile of occupational safety and health. The ISSA supports the World Day campaign and encourages social security organizations involved in prevention to promote the campaign through activities and events.]]>
