For more than 50 years the ISSA has served as an international platform to advocate for the prevention of occupational risks. In collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) the ISSA is once again actively supporting the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April.

The commemoration of the annual World Day for Safety and Health at Work is an integral part of ISSA’s objective to foster a preventive safety and health culture worldwide, addressing all actors of society. The theme of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work for 2011 is: OSH management system: A tool for continual improvement.

Prevention, compensation and rehabilitation are all key components of social security, and the ISSA’s efforts to promote a prevention culture target in particular social security institutions that promote the health of workers, that provide benefits for victims of occupational accidents and diseases and that support their return to the labour market.

As a partner of the World Day on Safety and Health at Work, the ISSA calls on its members and partners to contribute to the promotion of the World Day, to support World Day-related activities and to showcase their good practices and successful approaches in reducing the number of work-related deaths and injuries with special focus on the key role played by OSH management systems.
