The objectives of the Summit were to promote the important role of social security in society by showcasing the contribution of social security to face current and future socio-economic challenges in Africa in the context of globalization. Ministers, high-level policy-makers and representatives of international organizations participated in the Summit and debated the political dimension and measures necessary to make progress towards social security systems that can fully unfold their potential as key factors in any strategy to respond to the challenges of the African region.
