The investment of the reserves resulting from a funded financing system has become a growing concern in social security circles. The ISSA therefore organized an international conference which examined state-of-the-art approaches and solutions to a wide range of challenges related to the investment of social security funds; such as implementing investment guidelines; strategic asset allocation; managing risks in the portfolio; and investments in social and economic development.

This CD-ROM is a compendium of the papers and PowerPoint presentations delivered at this first International Conference on the Investment of Social Security Funds held in Merida, Mexico, on 27 and 28 September 2005. Several language versions of the ISSA model guidelines on the investment of social security funds are also included.
