Winds of change: Work arrangements in Germany
During the last two decades we have observed significant changes in the patterns of employment in Germany.

Non-standard work arrangements such as agency work, fixed-term contracts and part-time employment have gained in importance. By using data from the German labour force survey we examine the factors that may have driven this development. Our analyses show that the general shifts towards the service sector and female employment only explain parts of the development. The interplay of institutional and behavioural changes constitute the major source of changes in the patterns of work arrangements.
