Expert Workshop on Basic Principles for Prevention of Workplace-Related Back Diseases in Health Care

More than 45 experts from 13 European countries participated in this workshop.

The aim was to draft basic principles for prevention of workplace-related back diseases in health care and to formulate corresponding recommendations.

At first the workshop was reviewing the current situation, while focusing on the following aspects of workplace-related back diseases and their prevention: technical and structural facilities, organisation, occupational medicine, training and continuing education, legal principles as well as economic aspectsIn the second part of the workshop, 5 working groups treated the most important aspects and tried to formulate recommendations for prevention.

The results produced by these different groups were presented and discussed in a plenary session held during the third part of the workshop. On the basis of these, the basic principles for prevention of workplace-related back diseases and respective recommendations will be set out. The Section is elaborating the corresponding publication.
