Inauguration of the ISSA Liaison Office for North and Central America by the ISSA Secretary General Hans-Horst Konkolewsky and the ISSSTE Director-General ISSSTE, Jesús Villalobos López
The new Liaison Office, which has been operational since late 2010, will promote collaboration and the exchange of knowledge and solutions to common concerns among the Association’s members, to ensure the delivery of the ISSA’s programmes and further support the development of social security in the North and Central American region.
The Liaison Office, which is hosted by the State Employees' Social Security and Social Services Institute (Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado), will work with ISSA members and social security institutions in Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama and the United States.
The inauguration was formalized by the ISSA Secretary General Hans-Horst Konkolewsky and the Director-General of the ISSSTE, Jesús Villalobos López, during a ceremony attended by directors, senior managers and staff from social security organizations in Mexico and other countries in the region.
The opening of the Liaison Office was a highlight of the first Social Security Week for the Americas, which took place in Mexico City, 27-29 April 2011.
