Training Course on Social Health Insurance 2010

To respond to this situation, the National Health Insurance Corporation (NHIC) of the Republic of Korea has offered since 2004 a regular “Training Course on Social Health Insurance” in close collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Western Pacific (WHO/WPRO), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and the Korean Ministry for Health and Welfare. This year's course will be held in Seoul, Republic of Korea, from 7 to 17 September 2010.
Learning objectives
The course is organized to best to contribute to:
- the efforts of the countries to increase access, coverage and equity in health care services for the whole population through effective administration and benefit provision within existing social health insurance programmes.
- the introduction and development of social health insurance as one of the most suitable options for health-care financing in developing countries mainly through sharing Korean experiences.
- the promotion of cooperation and mutual understanding through establishing a firm network among countries in the region.
Target participants
- Mid-career, senior-level policy-makers and managers who are actively involved in introducing or improving government-initiated health care and health insurance programs in Asia and the Pacific region, and African countries.
- Staff from collaborating international organizations such as WHO/WPRO and UNESCAP
- Places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis (the number of seats are limited and participation will be competitive)
