Extension of coverage
Destacado: Estrategias internacionales para ampliar la cobertura de la seguridad social

Los estudios calculan que entre el 70 y el 80 por ciento de la población mundial vive en un estado de “inseguridad social”. Sin embargo, está cada vez más reconocida la contribución de los sistemas de seguridad social a la estabilidad social y la reducción de la pobreza. Las nuevas iniciativas de gran envergadura de la AISS y la Organización Internacional del Trabajo (OIT) tienen por objeto extender la cobertura de la seguridad social, pero para ello será necesario que los programas de seguridad social cuenten con una mejor gobernanza, financiamiento y administración.
