Background

The ISSA Liaison Office for North Africa was inaugurated on 15 April 2010 in in the presence of Jamal Rhmani, Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, representatives of the Moroccan authorities, and Hans-Horst Konkolewsky, the Secretary General of the ISSA.

Objectives

The principal task of the Liaison Office is to enhance and increase the number and scope of activities in the region. To this end, the Liaison Office

• provides information on the development of social security organizations in North Africa and on the latest developments in social security;
• facilitates the exchange of information between ISSA member organizations in North Africa; and
• Organizes technical seminars, training days, and visits on specific topics at the level of the region. The topics are determined by the Steering Committee within the priorities established by the ISSA member organizations of the region

Structure

Each region/subregion which has adopted the new regional structure has established its own workplan formulated by a Steering Committee in close cooperation with the ISSA General Secretariat. The Steering Committee is made up of Chief Executive Officers from member organizations in each region/subregion whose work is guided by a chairperson selected by the committee.
