Coordinate social protection programmes in the context of the creation of social protection floors

This report addresses the importance of the combination and coordination of social protection tools, with reference to the horizontal and vertical dimensions which form part of the Social Protection Floor strategy.

In the context of this initiative, we will attempt to provide a few ideas about the types of coordination which can be identified in the design of social security systems. It is important to underline that much of the contents of this document is based on the adaptation or direct use of material contained in recent ILO publications concerning the Social Protection Floor. Readers interested in obtaining more detailed information on the concept of the Social Protection Floor may like to consult the documents included in the bibliographical references, all of which are available on the Internet through the GESS Portal of the ILO Social Security Department.
