ISSA starts countdown to World Social Security Forum
国际社会保障协会, 2010.03.05 | News
Welcome to South Africa!
With just over 250 days until the World Social Security Forum opens in Cape Town, the International Social Security Association (ISSA) has started the countdown to the event, which is expected to attract over 1,000 participants from ISSA member organizations in all regions.

“The World Social Security Forum will provide a unique and timely platform for social security leaders to analyse the impact of the financial and economic crisis and to discuss the position of social security in a post-crisis world,” said the ISSA Secretary General, Hans-Horst Konkolewsky, speaking during the Regional Social Security Forum for Europe on 5 March.

During a vivid audiovisual presentation on the event and the South African context by the host organization (photo), Vusi Madonsela, the Director General of the Department of Social Development of the Republic of South Africa, called for the Forum to “inspire new hope” for the extension of social security in Africa and around the globe.

“To many in Africa, expanded social security coverage carries with it the hope for social and economic and political stability hitherto unknown in the continent,” stated Mr. Madonsela. The Forum can “inspire new hope for a future with social security,” he said.

The World Social Security Forum will convene in Cape Town, 29 November to 4 December 2010, and will be the largest global gathering of social security policy-makers and administrators.
