Some guiding principles for the development of self-adjusting mechanisms for sustainable retirement systems
Social security retirement systems ("SSRS") providing pension benefits under the defined benefit ("DB") principle are under strain around the world. Increased longevity and population aging have led to pensions being paid longer and to greater numbers than expected, while the
decrease in the fertility rate, especially below population replacement levels, has resulted in a decrease in the relative magnitude of the contribution base.
