Article 97 of the Social Insurance Law of the People's Republic of China, which was adopted by the National People's Congress in October 2010 and entered into force on 1 July 2011, stipulates that "Foreign nationals who are employed in the Chinese territory shall enrol in the social insurance system in accordance with this law".

As of 1 September 2011, the Rwandan Social Security Board (RSSB) extended health insurance coverage to pensioners through the Rwandaise Health Care Insurance (La Rwandaise d'assurance maladie (RAMA)).

With the passage of Law 1468 on 30 June 2011, the Colombian congress extended paid maternity leave from twelve to fourteen weeks, making it consistent with International Labour Organization (ILO) recommendations.
