Employers to pay Sickness Benefits
From March 1995, employers will be required to pay sickness benefits to their sick employees during the first (not necessarily consecutive) 35 days of sickness.

The availability and amount of sickness benefits has been changed by a recent law passed by the Latvian Parliament. Under the new law, employers are now responsible for paying cash sickness benefits to their employees from the second day through to the 14th day of an employee being unable to work.
