The XIX World Congress on Safety and Health at Work was held in Istanbul, Turkey, 11-15 September 2011, and was one of the largest global gatherings of prevention and occupational safety and health policy-makers and experts. The World Congress was co-organized by the International Labour Organization and the International Social Security Association and was hosted by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of Turkey.
Participation in the XIX World Congress in Istanbul was an opportunity for decision-makers, safety and health professionals, employers' and workers' representatives and other stakeholders who are active in the field of occupational safety and health in order to ensure close cooperation in the exchange of information with experts from all around the world and also to explore one of the most famous towns and cultures in the world.

The XIX World Congress on Safety and Health at Work – the largest gathering of health and safety experts in the history of the Congress – held its closing session here today, concluding that decent work is safe work and calling for a renewed commitment to build and maintain a global culture of prevention.

Films from Brazil, Switzerland and the UK have been awarded prizes in the 8th International Film and Multimedia Festival, during a ceremony at the World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, in Istanbul, Turkey, on 14 September 2011. Multimedia productions from Germany, Sweden and Mexico also received prizes.
