Independent Mine Safety Audits (IMSA) – A Turkey/ISSA Mining Project to Improve Mining Safety

Improving the safety standards and health promotion in Turkish mining is the aim of a joint project by ISSA Mining, Turkish mining cooperation Türkiye Taskömürü Kurumu (TTK), and the Turkish Ministry of Labour and Social Security. Within this cooperation, measures to enhance the level of occupational safety and health in the mining industry are defined, tested and evaluated on the basis of the framework of the International Labour Organization (ILO). The instruments are designed to increase productivity as well as to ensure an optimized organizational structure and fewer accidents, incidents, and health related loss of work time. Following a holistic approach, the economical performance will be taken into consideration as well as aspects up to the miner’s personal situation.

St. Petersburg: Cross-sector exchange on industrial safety by international experts

ISSA Mining's Seven Golden Rules for Safe and Economic Mining found high interest among the experts. 2012/06/01 | أو مرجعية المقال
Some 250 international experts and media representatives made St. Petersburg, Russia, a center of competence and dedication on safety during the International Forum on Industrial Safety, 29 May to 1 June 2012. Running as a jubilee event in its tenth turn, the forum proved to be once more an excellent platform on the exchange of experiences and good practice, and offered plenty of opportunity for networking and informal dialogue. Highly competent presentations such as on Nuclear Safety Actions after Fukushima accident, the 2010 Chile mine collapse and safety in the oil and natural gas industry have been shared. According to forum participants, the reports presented were of high practical value and will contribute to the further improvement of industrial safety and occupational health and safety.
