In many countries, the cost of financing health care is increasing significantly, with varying impacts on different branches of social protection, including social security pension schemes, health insurance schemes or health services and social services provided by municipalities and other agencies.
Options for financing health care will be explored, based on an analysis of trends in the private insurance sector, in social insurance protection systems and in publicly financed national health services. Action plans aimed at achieving universal health coverage, and which are designed in a coherent manner for each population group will be discussed.
