Technical Seminar on Extension of Social Security Coverage

The Technical Seminar on the Extension of Social Security Coverage will be held in Accra, Ghana, from 27 to 28 January 2010. This event is being organized by the ISSA Liaison Office for West Africa and is hosted by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust of Ghana.

The extension of social security coverage is high on the agenda of social security institutions throughout West  Africa, with a focus on seeking the best ways forward in providing better protection for the populations. This Technical Seminar is being organized in order to share first-hand experiences of institutions in the region in extending social security coverage,  with a view to identifying innovative and successful approaches adopted as well as the lessons learned in the process. Particular emphasis will be given to measures related to extending coverage to the uncovered population, in particular in the informal and rural sectors.  

 

Practical information

The working languages of the Seminar are English and French. Open to ISSA member organizations in the West African region.
