The first Regional Social Security Forum for Europe was held at the invitation of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS), Poland. The Forum provided a key platform for information and exchange on the most important regional social security trends and priority issues.

Highlights of the Forum were:

  • Presentation of a report on social security developments and trends  in Europe by Hans-Horst Konkolewsky, ISSA Secretary General.
  • Keynote speech on demographic challenges and social security  by Sarah Harper, Professor of Gerontology, University of Oxford and Director of the Institute of Ageing.
  • Keynote speech on the labour market and social security  by Yves Flückiger, Professor of Political Economy, Director of the Employment Observatory, University of Geneva.
  • Keynote speech on governance of social security institutions in a challenging environment by Chris de Neubourg, Professor of Economics, Graduate School of Governance, University of Maastricht.
  • The Regional Social Security Summit  for Europe.
