Creating labour market opportunities for young people
Women have been joining the labour market in a sustained way; however there is still a considerable gap between male and female employment rates. Even though the number of employed women increased by 200 million worldwide in the last decade (reaching 1,200 million in 2007), the number of unemployed women also increased from 70.2 million to
81.6 million during the same period.
