Public e-services initiative for insurers: The EDAS system of the State Social Insurance Fund Board of the Republic of LithuaniaThe main objective of the project was creating a system which allowed provision and receipt of electronic social insurance reports having legal power as well as including the data contained therein to the information system databases.
As a result of the "EDAS" project implementation, the processes of acceptance and storage in the databases of the State Social Insurance Fund Board of the Republic of Lithuania under the Ministry of Social Security and Labour (SODRA) have been automated, the social insurance contribution payment control, debt rating, correct and timely transfer of pension contributions to the pension funds and the use of human resources of the Fund Board’s territorial offices have been improved. The quality and efficiency of the services rendered while using the data of the Fund Board’s Information System has been increased, the client awareness has been raised; also, the necessary measures for the implementation of e-Government have been created. The "EDAS" is the pioneer system in Lithuania, using a qualified e-Signature technology, which ensures the legal validity of electronic documents, as required by the Lithuanian and the EU legislation.
