Unemployment allowances and minimum wages

A minimum unemployment allowance has been established by a law which determines that the average daily wage used to calculate the unemployment allowance for a person who previously worked full time shall not be less than the minimum wage. At present the minimum wage is ILS 71.06 per day.

Previously, the unemployment allowance was calculated as a percentage of the unemployed person's wages at all wage levels, including wage levels lower than the minimum wage.
